Europa 10 Digital Prints Show 20% Quality Improvements in 2006

(SEATTLE, WA) Express Imaging Systems, LLC has achieved a 20% improvement in silver halide print image quality using the latest in LED/LCD based technology in its RA4 printer, the Europa 10. High scores were earned during DIMA 2006 judging, with improvements in every category, representing a quality rating 26% higher than its nearest competitor. The Europa 10 remains the unchallenged quality champion in the RA4 Industrial High Speed 4” x 6” image quality category.

In 2005 the Europa 10 printer, with proprietary LED/LCD lamphouse technology, won the DIMA shoot out in the RA4 Industrial High Speed 4” x 6” printer category beating the FastPrint 20, based on Texas Instruments DLP line printing technology. Text and edge detail were among the most significant improvements visible to the naked eye when Europa 10 prints were compared.

Each year at PMA a panel of expert judges scores the overall quality of the submitted digital print and compares the accuracy of color against a “target” print. According to DIMA, a new quantitative element was added to the judging process this year. A Gretag Macbeth Color Checker with known values was embedded into the DIMA Target File, which was measured to determine the delta E of the actual value. Prints in the DIMA ShootOut are judged on important quality criteria, such as neutral gray balance reproduction, saturation, shadow depth and quality, overall tonality and detail, highlights and specular highlights, flesh tones, hue shift and text.

Express Imaging Systems, LLC invites wholesale and central labs to send test images for print samples from the award winning Europa 10 digital printer. “Experience the quality differences yourself, both for 4”x 6” work and for emerging high-margin products like greeting cards, postcards and album pages.” states Bryan Heathman, VP of Sales & Marketing. Send an email to sales@express-imaging.com to arrange the transfer of test files to Express Imaging Systems, LLC.
