Europa Printer Easily Integrates into Legacy Agfa Workflow

February 18, 2007 Seattle, WA – Express Imaging Systems, LLC (EIS) a leading developer of digital imaging technologies, announced today that the Europa 10 high speed digital printer can be integrated into legacy Agfa dWS workflow systems.

“This is a significant integration achievement to our customers that are still getting value out of older workflow systems. Integrating our products into an existing workflow helps to keep operating costs low, reduces environmental impact and exemplifies our commitment to service,” said Bryan Heathman, VP of Sales and Marketing.

“Using a simple XML hot folder, work from the Agfa dWS system can be printed by a downstream Europa printer,” said Jack Hutchinson, Senior Software Engineer for Express Imaging Systems. “Additional upgrades to how the Operator Interface handles local product codes, means that the Europa now has a 'just-in-time' way to assign batches using product codes.” The Europa can also communicate via a Photofinishing Data Format (PfDF) connection to retrieve order and batch print processing information across networks.

In designing its printer, first introduced in 2004, EIS said it reduced the number of moving parts by 66 percent (compared to a traditional laser printer) – making the Europa printer among the most reliable high-volume printers in the world. The use of long-life LEDs vs. traditional lamp assemblies decreases operating costs. In addition, the Europa combines image-enhancement technology – called eGate – with an ICC profiling system to deliver world-class quality images. The Europa comes with an environmentally-friendly thermal backprinter.
