Seattle, WA, October 19, 2004 – Express Imaging Systems, LLC announced today that Q-Enhancer software with red-eye reduction technology is now available to the North American Market. Q-Enhancer, the fully automatic solution for batch-processing image enhancement and ICC printer profiling, is designed for use in digital photo processing environments and is run in front of printers as part of the workflow.

Q-Enhancer Revision 15 introduces automatic red-eye reduction, available as an upgrade, and is compatible with a direct Noritsu minilab print spooler module. The new Noritsu print spooler module supports printing on multiple minilabs at the same time over a network connection. Red-eye reduction significantly reduces the presence of red-eye in digital and film photos, a major consumer complaint.

“Q-Enhancer is a great tool to enhance the quality of amateur photos and fix red-eye, found in over 15% of all amateur photography,” explains Bryan Heathman, VP of Sales & Marketing. “Speed and accuracy are key components of digitally removing red-eye, which Q-Enhancer performs in a fraction of a second. This significant Q-Enhancer release also takes into consideration the unique needs of Noritsu minilab owners, addressing marketing advantages of image quality and productivity.”

Q-Enhancer uses i2e image enhancement technology. This software is designed to batch-process images using high speed algorithms that recognize the scene content of each image and automatically determine the best image enhancement in terms of color accuracy and density balance (overall lightness or darkness). The software also works deep into the shadow and highlight areas of an image, and selectively optimizes the details. Finally, a boost to sharpness is added to create a print that is preferred by the vast majority of consumer photographers. These algorithms take control over each pixel, processing 4 to 5 million pixels per image in mere moments.

Express Imaging Systems is making a free trial available at www.express-imaging.com/products/Q-Enhancer.htm . The software is available to download and test today. Q-Enhancer is compatible with all Noritsu QSS digital minilabs, or any photographic printer.
